Local Living: Global Impact
Local Living, Global Impact is a celebration organised to mark the annual International Women’s Day on 7th March 2009. International Women’s Day is increasing in status yearly, since the success of the first ever celebration in 1911. Thousands of events ranging from dinners to business workshops occur each year to celebrate the women of today and to honour the women of the past.
Organised by Julianmiles Limited, Personal and Professional Coaching, this event will encourage women to recognise the amazing potential that lies within then. The event will feature a video presentation of several local women who are making a global difference through their work and lives.
“As women we are notorious at not seeing our own ability to contribute and influence,” Julianmiles founder, Bukky Olaleye, said. “The women that are interviewed are examples of how through our personal and professional lives, we too can make a difference everyday. These women are not famous, yet they are incredible role models, tirelessly chipping away at injustice, poverty and health issues to provide a better tomorrow.
The essence of the inspirational evening will be in meeting other amazing women as well as enjoying a superb three course meal and great entertainment all at the ultra modern Contemporary Urban Centre, Liverpool.

Gert Boyle.....amazing 82 year old
Gert took Neal's Columbia, whose core customers were serious outdoors people, and made it a company for anyone who fancies a fleece vest: students, suburbanites, babies. The message has been carried since 1984 by Columbia's "tough mother" advertising campaign, whose highlights have included Gert forcing her son Tim--now the company's CEO--through a car wash to test a parka. Her little family business is now a $1.2 billion public company.

Quotes from Boyle
“You never get yesterday back. So do better tomorrow and trust your instincts.”
“Self-examination is better than criticism, and the success of a business sometimes lies in the faults of the person who is running it.”
“You have to realize that in some areas experience is a better teacher than instinct.”

Re- Connect and Live!
54% said they get together with friends for fun and conversation less than once a month.
55% have not had a friend over to their home in more than two months.
80% of people married or in a romantic relationship said they are not satisfied with the consistency and quality of time spent with their spouse or significant other.
70% of parents surveyed said they do not spend enough time with their children.
58% said they have not had a seven-day vacation in more than a year.
Perhaps we should see these not as just another set of statistics but turn them into action plans to improve the quality of our relationships. Relationships do matter

NO QUESTION!
We have limitless potential, yet many of us are living well below our capability or ability to achieve our dreams. Success is not so much about having knowledge as it about organising the information we have to obtain the results we want
This workshop will help you identify how thoughts determine your actions, it will take you through the process of examining your belief systems, and provide strategies for making and maintaining new decisions.
According to Orison Swett Marden
"Deep within man dwell those slumbering powers; powers that would astonish him, that he never dreamed of possessing; forces that would revolutionize his life if aroused and put into action."

Do it!
We should be living a life that is meaningful and fulfilled, yet we often stop short of doing so because we are afraid to make necessary changes. Work, family, leisure, business, relationships; there is always something we could adjust in these areas to make our lives and that of others around us better.
So what are you waiting for? Just do it!
Any excuses... I mean comments?

Personal Branding
Who do you say you are? That is the starting point before we talk about who others believe you to be.
Think about your personal brand today. Ask and answer the question; ' what do others associate me with?' Am I fun, great to be around or moody and really miserable? Am I someone who keeps their word, and has integrity or do I keep letting others down? Am I a good friend, a dedicated member of staff, a great boss?
What is my personal brand....?

Change is good....or is it?
There are several reasons, one of the most prevalent being fear. Fear of making decisions, of having to do things differently, of confronting people or issues, fear of becoming who we are meant to be.
Change is only good when we understand that remaining in an unsatisfactory state will eventually produce long term negative effects on our well being. We can only stay unhappy, unfulfilled and dissatisfied for so long.
Then as we make much needed adjustments to our finances, relationships, health, careers or businesses, and lifestyles, the huge benefits become evident.
Change is great when you understand why!

Sat Nav
Anyhow, If you ignore the Sat Nav long enough, it automatically adjusts itself and re routes your journey. You still get to where you are going, eventually. It may take longer than anticipated, but that's the beside the point!
So lifes a bit like that, you might take a series of wrong turns but if you are resolute about getting to your destination, no matter how long it takes, then re route your life. Go back in the direction you were headed. Make the conscious decision. And while going on that loooong journey back, take the time to enjoy the scenery.

It takes courage
The secret of happiness is freedom, the secret of freedom is courage.
As I do when I come across a statement so significant, I evangelise. All my friends and family are made aware of my find as I rant and rave about how great and ultimately life changing it is! Perhaps you too, my new friends should ponder that weighty statement.
It takes courage to be truly free.
It takes courage to become who we were destined to become.
Wow. I want to be brave. How about you?
